Learn to roll like at the counter
A small-group workshop with our chef: the rice, cutting the salmon, then nigiri, maki, uramaki and gunkan. You taste your pieces in the dining room, and leave with the technique.
$129 plus tax · 2 hr 45 · up to 11 people
Takeout and delivery
The same care as in the dining room, at home: order by phone and pick up, or get it delivered anywhere in Montreal.

The fifth taste, at the heart of every recipe
Umami is the “exquisite taste”: dashi, dried bonito, flame-grilled eel. At Umamia every plate starts there, then borrows the best of Montreal, from maple syrup to lobster.

Fish sliced to order, vinegared rice made daily, house sauces. A counter, a terrace in summer.

Fresh, generous, unpretentious
“Still as good and fresh, a year after opening. The terrace is a plus.”
“Very good meal, especially the chicken karaage.”
“Everything was great.”
